Many of you are getting ready for one of the biggest parties of the year, this weekend’s Javelina Jundred! One of the preeminent 100 mile races on the North American calendar, a Western States qualifier and golden ticket race, Javelina promises stiff competition wrapped up in an all-night party in the desert. Trail Running’s Continued Ascent – Is It Possible?
It seems that everywhere you turn, someone is talking about the growth of trail running. The sport is having a moment. But how do we ensure that the growth is sustainable? How do running brands and businesses focus on the right things to deepen and enrich the running community, rather than getting caught up in the quest for “more new runners”? THE WEEKEND COOL DOWN
? The 2023 Golden Trail World Series finished with an exciting weekend in Noli, Italy. American Sophia Laukli (?:1) and Swiss runner Remi Bonnet took the overall series wins for women and men respectively. For both, it was a fight to the finish. Get the full race details.
? Saturday October 21, the Backyard Ultra World Championships kicked off in Bell Buckle, TN. 75 runners started the race: 71 men, 4 women. Angelika Huemer of Austria (?:2) set a personal best with 55 laps. As of this writing 18 runners remain on course and only men remain. 76 laps have been completed and runners are on lap 77. Every lap is a test. Watch live.
?Diagonale des Fous, one of the world’s most difficult hundred mile races, took place on Réunion Island in the Indian Ocean. American Katie Schide (?:3) took a commanding first place, 90 minutes ahead of the second place female and 3 hours faster than Courtney Dauwalter’s time from last year. Aurélien Dunand-Pallaz of France was first in the men’s race, aggressively leading for much of the race. Full Results.

Rest, Andy Wacker & The Trail Team, Hiking As Training

Corrine interviews professional runner and Trail Teammentor Andy Wacker. Andy recently took 2nd place at the World Mountain Running final and 1st place at the Xterra Trail Run World Championships.
