Kate Olson

Why I run:

I run because I deeply enjoy it – the sense of freedom from being untethered to anything while I move my body for miles and miles and miles makes me feel fully alive and in charge of my path. What a gift!

My favorite place to run:

I love exploring by foot. I have regular spots that I love to disappear into but seeing new areas, even if it’s a little side trail or dead end road that goes on for a mile and then ends, brings me so much joy. Some of my favorite run explorations have been in the Marin Headlands and the French Pyrenees.

What I hope to convey through my content:

That there’s more to running than your resume. There’s so much beauty to see. There’s so much variety; you can challenge yourself in so many different ways! And if you let them, there are countless communities in this sport who will remind you of the beauty of humanity. We’re lucky to have all this.

More about Kate:

A New Englander by birth and a Californian by choice, Kate has been running since high school and aims to be one of those little old ladies running in her 90s. After discovering LA’s run community, she decided to support others who were looking for the same by creating a list of LA run clubs to publicly share out. In 2023, this transformed into LA Running Connoisseur, a larger resource intended to lower the barrier to entry into the sport of running in Los Angeles. She loves to wax poetic about the sport, the trails, and the people in running!
